Sarah Kathleen Rhoades Bond, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away May 26th. She was born to Alva and Aggie Swayze in Burns City, Indiana on March 1, 1923. After graduation, Kathleen moved to Indianapolis to live, and worked at RCA until 1954, and later worked at The Floating Dock, Co., retiring in 1970.
She married her first husband Norman Rhoades in 1950, who passed away in 1980. Through her association with the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, she met and married her second husband Harold Bond in 1992. The Bonds enjoyed many years together and traveled extensively.
Kathleen volunteered many hours to the American Legion and VFW auxiliaries, and to the VA Hospital volunteering more than 8 years and 7000 hours of service.
She is survived by 4 Step-Children, and several Nieces and Nephews.
A funeral service will take place Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, with calling from noon until service time.
Following the service, please join the family at The American Legion, 8726 E. 38th St., Indianapolis, where food will be provided for a gathering.
